In 2005 my husband and I bought an old barn
which was renovated into a small living area/studio
space. It is situated just out of the hillside town of Rivello about
a 1 1/2 hour train trip from Naples. We are planning on making the
space available to artists wanting to spend some time in Southern
Italy. It will suit people who enjoy a glorious landscape, quiet environment
and preferably who can drive on southern italian roads. The studio
is 1/2 hour from Maratea which is right on the coast and very attractive.
For those who don't drive, there is a good bus service available to
nearby towns. The area is situated in the midst of National Parks,
is close to the Amalfi Coast, Greece, Tunisia and Southern France.
The studio could be used as a base for people interested inexploring
any of those areas. Initially the internal workspace will be best
suited to painters or writers, in the sense that it will not be set
up to accommodate people needing to use machinery or needing to make
a big mess ie sculptors.
